You may try to eat healthy. You may eat very healthy most of the time or even all of the time. But do you pass the ultimate healthy eating test: are you a "Caver"?
A Caver is a person who follows the Caveman Diet.
This term was invented by my stepdad and hard-core Caver Jeff Hausman.
If you've been reading this newsletter regularly, you know that the Caveman Diet is a new diet I created that's a combination of the Zone Diet, the Paleo Diet and calorie restriction all rolled into one. Because it combines the best aspects of these three incredibly healthy diets, It's the healthiest way to eat.
To get on board with the Caveman Diet and become a Caver, just follow the Three Keys to Caveman Eating.
Think of the three simple guidelines below your the "Keys to the Cave":
Key #1 -- Eat Caveman Foods. Don't eat Non-Caveman Foods.
Key #2 -- Always eat protein with carbs.
Key #3 -- Stop eating when you feel full.
The Caveman Diet is as simple as that!
In order to follow Key #1, you need to know whaich foods are Caveman Foods and which foods are Non-Caveman Foods. Here's a list:
Caveman Foods: Eat
Meat, poultry and fish
Fruits
Vegetables
Eggs and egg whites
Nuts, seeds and avocados
Oils from nuts and fruits (like olive oil)
Non-Caveman Foods: Don't Eat
Grains
Sugar and other sweeteners
Beans and soy products
Dairy products
Processed meats
Vegetable oils
Caveman Foods are the foods that our caveman ancestors ate for tens of thousands of years. Hunter-gatherers still eat these foods. Non-Caveman Foods are those that cavemen and hunter-gatherers would rarely or never eat.
When you eat Caveman Foods and avoid Non-Caveman Foods, you won't be as hungry, will find weight-loss much easier and will experience amazing healthy benefits, including reduced inflammation, a healthier immune system, increased "good" cholesterol, lower blood pressure, reduced risk of heart disease, reduced diabetes and even a potentially longer lifespan!
This is a great deal for just making a few simple changes to how you eat.
What You Eat for Meals
Some examples of Caveman Meals are:
- An egg white omelette cooked with olive oil and filled with mushrooms, onions, spinach and tomatoes. Two oranges for dessert.
- Salmon with steamed broccoli and and an apple.
- A big salad with olive oil-and-lemon dressing, topped with chicken. A big bowl of mixed berries for dessert.
As you can see, Caveman Meals are delicious, enticing and full of flavor and color. They're also supremely healthy! You feel good after eating them. They don't leave you overly-full and you don't feel hungry. You feel just right.
I'm so excited to share more information about the Caveman Diet with you, since it's the diet that works so well for me and my family.
I'm finishing up a book that tells you everything you need to know to follow the Caveman Diet and even includes a Seven-Day Meal Plan specifically designed for you!
Be on the lookout for the print version of The Caveman Diet, which I'll have available in early April.
Until then, follow the Three Keys to Caveman Eating and you, too, will be a Caver!
