I'll be flying in to L.A. in a few days to celebrate Passover with my family. Passover is a Jewish holiday in which we celebrate the freedom of the Jewish people from slavery in Egypt thousands of years ago.
During the eight-day holiday, we don't eat bread. I realized that this year, sticking to the tradition will be a snap, since I'm on the Caveman Diet and don't eat bread anyway.
While I'm in L.A., I'll be giving two nutritional talks. My mom has graciously offered her beautiful house as a place to give the talks.
I'll be explaining the Caveman Diet, talking about fish oil and answering any other questions people may have about health and nutrition.
It's sure to be enlightening for all of us. Come and learn something new that will help you and your family to live healthier lives!
Also, let your friends, loved ones and coworkers know and bring them with you. The talks will be on Wednesday and Thursday, April 4th and 5th at 7:30 p.m. in Calabasas, California (a town in Los Angeles). The talks will last an hour to an hour-and-a-half.
To get the address and directions please email me at: tracy@smartcarblife.com
I had wanted to get my book finished and available to you by today, but I didn't meet that deadline.
You can still get started on the Caveman Diet right away! Just email me and I'll send you the first two chapters of the book.
Following the Caveman Diet is a great way to get in shape with your friends this spring. Here's a quick quiz to see how much you learned from reading last week's newsletter:
1. What's the formula for finding out how concentrated your fish oil is?
a. Add EPA and DHA. Divide by total milligrams per serving.
b. Find total milligrams per serving. Divide by EPA plus DHA.
c. Add EPA and DHA. Divide by total fish oil per serving.
d. Find total milligrams per serving. Multiply by EPA plus DHA. (On this one I'll give you a hint, because I miscommunicated it in the last newsletter.
You're not looking at total fish oil per serving. You're looking at total milligrams per serving. On some labels, these numbers are different.
Total fish oil is the amount of pure fish oil in the capsules. Total milligrams is the actual weight of the capsules. Total milligrams includes both the fish oils and the other stuff that's in the capsules.)
2. What's the minimum concentration of EPA+DHA for a highly-concentrated (highly-purified) fish oil?
a. 20%
b. 30%
c. 40%
d. 50%
Think you've aced the class on fish oil? Then check out next week's newsletter for the answers!
Answers to last week's quiz:
1. What can happen if you take a less-concentrated fish oil (such as the cheap kind that's on sale at the mega-mart)?
a. You get very little health benefit for your money.
b. You injest cancer-causing PCB's and dioxins.
c. You overdose on Vitamin A.
d. All of the above are possibilities. 1. The answer is d. So get a highly-purified fish oil.
2. Which brand(s) of fish oil do I recommend based on their high concentrations of EPA and DHA?
a. Dr. Sears' Fish Oil
b. Costco Fish Oil
c. Dr. Michael Murray Recommended RxOmega-3 Factors Fish Oil
d. Both a and c.
2. The answer is c. I currently take four capsules per day of the Dr. Michael Murray RxOmega-3 Factors brand. The least expesive place to buy it is on iHerb. Tip:
Call up someone you love who you haven't talked to for a while and say hi. It will make both your day and your loved one's day.
